How We’re Keeping You Safe During COVID-19

OUR COVID-19 PROTOCOL - AS OF MAY 4, 2020

As many still have concerns about the current pandemic and the uncertainty of the future, our team can confidently say we are prepared for this time and treating our patients. Being in such a close contact environment, we are taking every necessary step to both protect you and ourselves from this horrible disease.

We have been closely following the latest protocols by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

Through their recommendations, we have developed stringent infection control measures that will ensure a safe environment for both you and our Mountain Brook Smiles team members as we begin seeing patients for regular cleanings and necessary treatments:

  • Appointment Reminders & Confirmation:

    • You will receive a text message confirmation for your appointment including a quick COVID-19 questionnaire. Please submit it prior to your appointment to ensure it is safe for you to enter the office. If you are sick, please stay at home. If you wish to cancel your appointment for any reason, please call or text as soon as possible to inform us of the need to reschedule.

  • In-car Reception:

    • Upon arrival, please stay in your car. Please text or call our office at 205-423-9140 to inform us of your arrival. When our team is ready for your appointment, we will come to you for an initial assessment including a temperature check. We ask that teens and adults come alone to their appointment. Only the patient will be allowed to enter the office during the appointment.

  • Entering the Office:

    • Upon entering the office, our team member will lead you directly to your treatment room. Please use our complimentary hand sanitizer at the front desk upon entering the office. If you are already wearing your own personal mask, please keep it on! We ask that you please not touch anything unless it’s absolutely necessary. If you need to use the restroom during the appointment, please let us know, and we will be happy to point you in the right direction.

  • Your Appointment:

    • Our entire team will be wearing required PPE throughout your appointment, from getting you into the office to completing your appointment. During treatment, we will be wearing additional protective gear. We will be happy to go over the specifics of each item we are wearing.

    • Treatment will feel similar to any of your last dental visits. We will be working with all of the same tools and materials to get you smiling brightly. Our goal is to work as efficiently as we can to get you in and out of the office as smoothly as possible!

    • We will continue to completely sanitize and disinfect all treatment rooms and dental equipment after each and every patient as well as regularly disinfecting all office touch points, including countertops, doorknobs, and common areas.

  • Pre-Rinse:

    • Before your appointment, you will be asked to perform a 30 second rinse with a hydrogen peroxide solution. This will help lower the oral germs before we start working on your mouth.

  • Leaving the Office:

    • Before leaving a team member will walk you to the reception area for check out. Once you have paid, we ask that you once again clean your hands with hand sanitizer and swiftly leave the office. Our goal is zero overlap of patients in common areas, and the smoother our transitions between patients, the better!

  • Follow up:

    • In the rare case that you have any problems following your treatment, we ask that you please call our office. As always, we’re here to fully take care of our patients, and we would never want you to have lingering issues.

    • In the unfortunate case, we kindly ask that you please report any COVID-19 signs or symptoms within 14 days of your appointment.
